Executive Order 14374: Establishing a Second Emergency Board To Investigate Disputes Between the Long Island Rail Road Company and Certain of Its Employees Represented by Certain Labor Organizations

Executive Order 14374 establishes a second emergency board under Section 9A of the Railway Labor Act to investigate unresolved labor disputes between the Long Island Railroad Company and several labor organizations. After a prior emergency board’s recommendations were not accepted by all parties, the President appointed a new three-member board to review final settlement offers and select the most reasonable proposal. The Order requires both parties to maintain existing working conditions during the review period and ensures records are maintained by the National Mediation Board.
