Persistent Chemicals

The GAO conducted a study on PFAS, a group of chemicals that persist in the environment and can cause health issues, found in products like carpets and nonstick cookware. With most Americans likely exposed to PFAS through water, food, or air, the EPA will require certain public water systems to meet PFAS limits by 2029. However, there are concerns about whether these systems are equipped with enough information to effectively treat water and manage the waste produced.
